Overview

Furality Online Xperience is the furry convention that celebrates the VR furry fandom!

Furality, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) public charity that operates a semi-annual online convention, which is made possible by our innovative and exciting use of virtual reality.

Why Furality needs you!

The Furality team is a close-knit and diverse group of furries that are passionate about driving the VR furry fandom forward. You'll need to be 18 years of age or older.

Since our team is located around the world, all Furality team members work together remotely using Discord and Notion.

What you'll do!

As a Chat Guide, you’ll be collaborating with the Furality team to help foster and maintain a vibrant, safe, and welcoming community for our guests! The Chat Team is more than just moderation; the team acts as vital guides for the Furality Online Experience community, allowing guests to interact with the community and volunteers year-round by being part of the community themselves.

  • Consistently and actively engage with our community on Discord, as well as on other platforms when they are active, such as Twitch or VRChat, to ensure a welcoming and safe environment on an ongoing basis.
  • Be a primary community-facing point of contact for attendee and guest questions regarding Furality, the convention, and related events.
  • Proactively handle user moderation and maintain a safe and welcoming environment for our attendees on Discord and Twitch on an ongoing basis.
  • Escalate issues or support requests to the appropriate internal team as needed.

Qualifications

  • Strong written communication skills, both in Discord and in the development of documentation.
  • Consistent interest in socializing and engaging with a large community through text-based platforms.
  • Familiarity with using Discord, Twitch, and VRChat.
  • A proven ability to provide fair and consistent moderation.
  • Demonstrated interest in VR and large online communities. Understanding our community is critical for this role.
  • Ability to actively monitor the Furality Discord server outside of major events (about 2-4 hours weekly) and the ability to dedicate a minimum of 4 hours per day during our Furality convention.

Extra skills that make our tails wag!

  • Prior experience handling and managing sensitive situations – such as vulnerability training, conflict resolution, and soft skills.
  • Prior experience coordinating and supporting a volunteer-based organization.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Familiarity with moderation methods and tools for VRChat.
  • Familiarity with wiki syntax, markdown, and/or Coda.
  • Familiarity with Discord’s permission structure, auto-moderator capabilities, and/or Discord bots
