Event Stream Technical Director (NA/EU)

Overview

Furality Online Xperience is the furry convention that celebrates the VR furry fandom!

Furality, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) public charity that operates a semi-annual online convention, which is made possible by our innovative and exciting use of virtual reality.

The Furality team is a close-knit and diverse group of furries that are passionate about driving the VR furry fandom forward. You'll need to be 18 years of age or older.

Since our team is located around the world, all Furality team members work together remotely using Discord and Notion.

What you'll do!

As an Event Stream Technical Director, you’ll work with Event Stream Producers, Stream Directors, and Camera Operators to help assemble show rundowns and blocking for cameras. You’ll be at the controls of our vision mixer tool, vMix, directing our teams to provide the best possible viewing experience for our Live streaming audiences!

  • Operate video broadcasting software (vMix) to switch between media inputs, execute transitions, and apply bugs, lower thirds, and other graphics during live broadcasts
  • Work with the Camera Operations team to block out which shots to put on the air
  • Collaborate with the Event Video Producers, and other teams, to set up scenes, ready media assets, and facilitate event stream productions
  • Use our remote desktop control system, Parsec, to access a shared remote workstation that houses our vMix and other streaming infrastructure
  • Use Discord voice channels to communicate with the production team, talent, and stage managers

Qualifications

  • Ability to deliver precise instructions to camera operators and work effectively, and cooperatively, in a fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity working with broadcasting software, such as vMix and OBS
  • Ability to respond quickly and effectively to directions and feedback from Technical Directors, Camera Operators, and Stream Producers
  • Comfortable reacting quickly to troubleshoot issues in potentially stressful situations
  • Live video stream experience
  • Flexibility with working hours during the weekend of our Furality events
  • Access to stable & wired broadband internet

Extra skills that make our tails wag!

  • Understanding how vision mixers work
  • Proficiency in utilizing vMix software
  • Knowledge of information technologies and how digital video production works, including compression, conversion, streaming, and corresponding codices
  • Professional or hobbyist experience with broadcast or film
  • Live event experience
  • Experience with VRChat camera operations
  • Access to VRChat desktop with a PCVR-capable headset
  • Familiarity with using ‘Companion’ software for button controls
  • Owning an Elgato Stream Deck XL or compatible ‘Companion’ control surfaces.
